Growing up on a Midwest dairy farm, fall has always been a time of gathering the harvest, fall foliage and the gathering of family and friends. Even though my life has not always reflected a Norman Rockwell version, I celebrate nonetheless and this fall was no exception to that rule.
Sept. 16th, we arrived in West Palm Beach airport, greeted by Steve our new neighbor from Palm City. We were tired and so thankful for his presence and generosity to be there and after a 35 min ride north back home (that has such a nice ring to it h-o-m-e) we found that our other neighbors had not only provisioned for us, but they too had also looked after for our home with much loving care while we were away. The next few days we gathered together with them and celebrated more:
Jennie and John, Rebecca and Steve - thank you so much for your care and generosity!Within days we had packed our car and drove to Oriental, N. Carolina to spend a couple nights with Christie, Stephen Jr. and family. My how Abe and Ruby have grown since
We left Oriental and headed to Laura's (Steve's eldest daughter
and her family) in Simsbury Ct. spent the night and Friday morning Steve headed to the coast with his children, Laura, Stephen and Erich who all gathered to celebrate his 68th birthday and I went off to Omega Inst. and Kripalu for some personal time.
Reconvening on that Thursday the 30th at Laura's, we went on to Boston Airport to pick up a dear friend Steve Otto and then on to attend Steve's 40th Harvard class reunion events.
We have one more grand celebration in Boston: Erich and Rosalie's engagement party on the 9th and 10th then off to Ohio to see more family and friends. Given all this gathering of family and friends set in such a beautiful New England landscape has been a wonderful way to welcome in fall, still we both look forward to heading H-O-M-E and settling in for a good winter in sunny Palm City Florida.
We look forward to being in touch!
